My name's Brian. I draw, animate, play tennis, and play various instruments.

I have an online persona by the name of "Cicada".

High Thoughts

I think the measure of how much a person can like another person can be determined by how much one person can stand going through their own discomforts to provide another person a little bit more comfort. Like just right now I slightly pushed the monitor to the right so that while I get a worse angle, but he gets a better angle. However, notice that I did not turn the monitor ALL the way, destroying my angle in the process. It means that my likeness of his person is not really that full.

A good full likeness is truly projected by fathers and their children. Say that you get an ice cream cone, and decide to let your friend have half. You decide to let him have half, but would not give up any more. Fathers in this case, would give the whole thing to his children. They have truly unconditional love for them, and they even got an ice cream cone in the first to place with the intent to give it to his children! His children cannot repay him back in a tangible way (all psychological and emotional ways aside), yet the fathers goes through a 100% sacrifice of their own money to give their children more comfort.

In the movie theater, people seek the best seats (for their own preferences) as fast as possible. When they find their seats, they don’t want to give them up, because down to the seat number in their row, it’s the seat that fit best to their preferences, while constrained to the preferences of others, including their discomforts. So after finding their seat, the relationship between strangers is revealed. Nobody wants to give up their seat to some person they just made eye contact with. There is zero sacrifice to compensate for the total lack of added comfort to the other people.
